GRANDMOTHER:

I would like to bring to your attention that meditation is a university. This is particularly important for your young children to know very early on.

Meditation is a University!

Perhaps a University of the Soul... If there is no time in your day to allow the greater wisdoms of your soul to be communicated, to be sensed, to be known at a deeper level, then it is more difficult to become aware of innate wisdom...

Believe me, a young child who is having difficulty, in your perspective, with behavior, can seem to become quite wise in their contemplation of it, if you allow them -- not as punishment but almost as reward -- to sit in contemplation. A time to themselves... Even a time in beautiful Sound...Calming, meditative sounds... To just be... (Meditation-Sound Page - for any age...)

This time of expanded awareness, must begin to be valued. And the value of this great gift expressed... That you have time...to sit and be and contemplate; to enjoy the beauty of the sound; or to meditate in nature and enjoy its beauty and its genius.

For young people, becoming aware of this early in life, can change their "taking in" of events and even information throughout life!

Meditation is a university of contemplating wisdom, contemplating the "data" of all life lived that day or during that time... because patterns emerge in knowing when there is time set aside to see the patterns emerging!

I will make a second point: This "meditation-as-university" phenomenon can be quite fun and exciting! Great creative ideas can emerge, when the time is made for them!

And greater peace and understanding can emerge when the time is made for that. Make it a beautiful time... Put it on the calendar. Be comfortable, breathe, and enjoy both the solace and the sangha of meditation-as-a-university...

Could "walking meditation" in nature, in silence, for young children, change their awareness of reality? Especially if they are allowed time to share what they experience, and that sharing is valued... -- SHR
